CERTIFIED GRADUATE MASTER BUILDER (GMB)
The ultimate symbol of the building professional, the Graduate Master Builder (GMB) designation is for experienced veterans only. Before beginning the GMB designation process, you must have the CGB designation or the CGR designation with five years of building experience, or 10 years of building experience and successful completion of three CGB/CGR courses.
GMB courses require additional study, with in-depth instruction geared for experienced building professionals. It’s a significant time commitment, but graduates gain a more complete knowledge of all facets of the home building industry, build a new network of peers across the country, and inform their potential clients of their commitment to the best of Fine Homebuilding, customer service and advanced construction techniques.
The Certified Graduate Master Builder is truly counted among the very finest of home builders in the United States. Many years of experience combined with vigorous classroom education and testing put the GMB at the pinnacle of Design & Fine Homebuilding.
CERTIFIED AGE IN PLACE SPECIALIST (CAPS)
The NAHB and the American Association of Retired People (AARP) jointly developed this program to create the standard necessary to build a home suited to the aging and the elderly. An Age in place specialist is an expert in designing and building homes to accommodate current and future needs that come along with seniors.
The CAPS Builder can design and install key elements such as better lighting, wider doors, lever handles, and downstairs bedrooms as universal to all while specific needs can be customized and tailor-made for any individual.
CERTIFIED GREEN PROFESSIONAL (CGP)
The Certified Green Professional™ designation recognizes builders, remodelers and other industry professionals who incorporate green and sustainable building principles into homes— without driving up the cost of construction. The required courses provide a solid background & knowledge in green building methods, materials, & techniques, as well as practical building solutions to the home building industry.
Certified Green Professionals are equipped with the knowledge and skill to build high-performance homes utilizing the latest in environmentally-sensitive materials and techniques.
CGP coursework is closely aligned with the ICC 700 National Green Building Standard, which includes chapters on energy, water and resource efficiency, indoor environmental quality, lot and site development and is the core curriculum for the required CGP classes.
